Ode To Snow

Go Away!!!

Not very long, but hopefully effective. I just got in from shoveling. I was out there about 45 minutes and only got the front sidewalk, in front of the garage and end of the driveway. (Not even the whole thing.) I haven't seen a snow total for our city, but I'm guessing about 16 to 18 inches. There's also a nice crusty coating on top due to the freezing drizzle this morning.

Thankfully our neighbor snowblowed most of the driveway both last night and this morning. Last night was the first time I've told Zan that we needed a snowblower. I'm so sick of all this snow. There's just so much!

So there's more shoveling to be done (the 3rd stall side of the driveway), but it will have to wait.
There hasn't been much going on around here. Ella has the day off today and also last Friday. We've just been hanging out. It was really nice last week with the 50 degree temps, but very short lived. I'm so ready for spring.

I've been cleaning out closets and other things here and there. Planning menu's and preparing meals. It's so nice being able to pull out a homemade jar of soup or spaghetti sauce from the pantry. I also made a lasagna yesterday for next month. I'm going to be making and canning some chili too. I love cooking, but not always every day at 4:30 pm. It's nice to have everything done ahead of time for those days.
Well off to finish laundry. I have some photos to share (I can't remember what they are right now) and I'll try to get another post on here soon.

New Adventures

In this case I'm using the term adventures very loosely.

We've been pretty busy around here lately. Ella was back at school by last Thursday. So only 3 days missed. So far (still knocking on wood) Sam managed to not get sick. I'm very surprised by that one because they are constantly playing together. I woke up this morning with the very slightest sore throat. It's not bothering me at all and I'm just hoping it goes away. When you're the one trying to keep the house germ free I bet a lot of those germs end up on me. (A fun little rhyme for Wednesday morning.)

I've been enjoying this lovely cold weather! :) Ha, ha......

So here's the new adventure.........

I applied for, and was hired, for a new job! I'm going to be doing transcription work from home. Ever since my last work from home job closed up shop (almost 4 years ago) I've been occasionally keeping my eye out for something similar. Finding something like that is not an easy thing to do. I wanted to look for something I could do from home. Where it was okay if I was interrupted and could adjust my hours accordingly. Well I found it and I'll be starting any day now. I don't have to go anywhere either. Can't get much better than that.

I've been busy getting my sandwich bags put together before I get busier. They've been selling quite well lately and I won't have as much time to work on them. I'm also not going to be doing my photo a day blog. The main problem I've been having with this blog is that on most days I don't go anywhere and there are only so many different pictures you can take inside a house.

It will now just be my photo blog. I can post a photo like this one....

of this kids sledding outside this weekend. They had so much fun and were out there for hours. But if I have a lot of similar pictures I can put them on my photo blog and you can check out the rest there.

Simple huh? Makes my life a little easier. Now off to finish getting everything in order....

The Ickies

Ella's been sick since Sunday. Fever, little coughing, stuffy nose, etc. I took her to the Target Clinic last night after Zan got home from work. Turns out she has strep too. Ah the joys of school.

I'm glad I took her last night instead of waiting for today though. When her fever is down (on meds) she does really well. I'm able to keep her on doses of Motrin and Tylenol at such intervals to keep her fever away. I only give her one dose before bed though to see how she's doing in the morning. This morning her fever was 104.

After last year when both the kids had viruses that lasted about a week with fever spikes up to 105 these high temps don't really bother me as much as they have previously.

Sam hasn't gotten sick yet. (fingers crossed) I went around and wiped everything down last night after she went to bed. I'm trying to keep the blankets and everything washed as well. So we'll see. She's contagious for 24 hours after starting her antibiotics. I'm hoping she'll recover more today and be back in school tomorrow. Only time will tell.

The last three days are the only days she's missed from school. Both kids really do stay quite healthy most of the time. Thankfully she's been doing well enough to work on her school work during the afternoon. Lots of extra practice.
